    Uganda Tourism Association Appoints Muhereza Kyamutetera as New CEO

    Kampala, September 21, 2024 – The Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) has announced the appointment of Muhereza Kyamutetera as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2024. UTA, which represents various tourism trade associations across Uganda, is confident that Kyamutetera’s wealth of experience will drive the organization forward.

    With over 20 years of experience 15 of those at the C-suite level, Kyamutetera has worked with more than 100 brands across diverse sectors, including tourism, financial services, ICT, aviation, and healthcare. His expertise spans strategy development, business growth, marketing, and stakeholder relations, making him well-suited to lead UTA’s mission of fostering a professional, competitive, and inclusive tourism industry in Uganda.The UTA President, Yewagnesh Biriggwa (Yogi), has confirmed the appointment of Muhereza Kyamutetera.     Yewagnesh Biriggwa (Yogi), the President of UTA, expressed optimism about the new appointment. “We are excited about the fresh perspectives Mr. Kyamutetera brings to UTA, especially as we navigate the post-COVID-19 recovery period. His skills and industry knowledge make him an excellent choice at this critical juncture.”

    “The appointment of a CEO is one of the critical milestones our new board set for itself in our first 100 days since we were voted into office on June 20th 2024. I thank my fellow board members for working tirelessly to close this key deliverable,” she said.

    Kyamutetera, in turn, expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I am excited to infuse my professional experience with my passionate love for Destination Uganda and look forward to being an essential bridge between the private sector, the government, and our development partners as we jointly work to increase the volume and value to Uganda and ultimately increase enterprise revenues and household incomes.”

    UTA represents over 2,000 tourism enterprises, including tour operators, travel agents, accommodation facilities, and cultural organizations. The members include; The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association (UHOA), The Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA), Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA),

    The Association of Ugandan Women in Tourism Trade (AUWOTT), The National Arts and Cultural Crafts Association (NACCAU), The Hotel General Managers Association of Uganda (HOGMAU) and The Uganda Association of Conference and Incentive Industry (UACII).

    The affiliated members of the Uganda Tourism Association include; Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board (BHTB) and Kasese Tourism Investors Forum (KTIF).

    Uganda Tourism Association UTA aims to promote sustainable tourism development through collaboration with both the private and public sectors.
