In a surprising turn of events, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, the Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, has revealed how her professional interactions with celebrated Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo evolved into a romantic relationship that has captivated the nation.

Hon. Nyamutoro first met Eddy Kenzo during a business meeting, where she was struck by the way he looked at her.

The intensity of his gaze puzzled her, especially given his background and reputation.

I wondered why a man like Eddy Kenzo, with his history, would look at me in such a way. It didn’t make sense to me at the time,” she shared.

Their second encounter, intended to be another business meeting, took an unexpected turn. Hon. Nyamutoro recounted how what she described as an “offensive marriage proposal” shocked her. She was taken aback by the fact that Eddy Kenzo, despite being a stranger and known for his past romantic involvements, would express a desire to marry her so soon.

The relationship between the BET Award-winning artist and the Minister has become one of the most talked-about topics in Uganda this year.

The couple recently held their traditional marriage ceremony, known as Kukyaala, in July.

The event was glamorous and has remained a subject of discussion across the country.

As their love story continues to unfold, Hon. Nyamutoro and Eddy Kenzo are now focused on formalizing their relationship in the near future.

The couple’s journey from a business partnership to a romantic union has captured the hearts of many, making them one of Uganda’s most admired couples of 2024.
