The live concert scene has experienced a notable shift in recent years, with more focus on the size of the audience than the quality of sound, according to longtime Ugandan dancehall singer Nutty Neithan.

People don’t care as much about the quality of sound on stage anymore. Instead, they care about whether the venue was filled,” Nutty Neithan said in a recent statement.

He noted that today’s concerts have evolved, becoming less about delivering a perfect musical experience and more about the atmosphere and turnout.

Nutty Neithan, who has been a staple in Uganda’s dancehall music scene, expressed concern that the essence of live performances may be changing.

Concerts nowadays are about music, not numbers,” he added, highlighting a broader trend where the success of an event is often measured by the crowd size rather than the technical aspects of the performance.

This shift reflects how audience priorities may have evolved, favoring the energy and excitement of a full venue over high-quality acoustics.

While the change might benefit concert organizers, some artists worry that the focus on numbers could overshadow the artistry and talent involved in live performances.

Nutty Neithan’s comments have sparked discussions within the Ugandan music industry, as more artists and fans reflect on how concerts continue to evolve in the modern era.
