Bobi Wine, the leader of National Unity Platform (NUP) has commended a group of Ugandan musicians and entertainers for their stance against the ruling government.

Speaking at the NUP’s weekly press conference in Kavule, Bobi Wine, himself a musician-turned-politician, expressed his gratitude to the artists who have resisted the lure of joining the government.

Bobi Wine acknowledged the crucial role artists are playing in Uganda’s political landscape, highlighting that this is a unique moment in the country’s history.

I am an artist, and what we have today is something we had never seen. God in the past brought us lawyers, doctors, and engineers, but this time he brought artists. This is our time, and we have to give the best example.

The event was attended by dozens of musicians and other entertainers who have aligned themselves with the opposition. Bobi Wine urged them to continue using their influence to educate and mobilize the masses until the NRM government is ousted.

“I am happy that where they have persuaded you with money, you have stood for the truth. People like Kabako and the rest of you, thank you for keeping strong,” he stated, referring to the NRM’s alleged attempts to coerce artists into supporting the government.

Bobi Wine assured the gathered artists that their collective efforts would soon bear fruit, expressing confidence in the eventual victory of the opposition. He even envisioned a future where they would celebrate their success at the highest level of power.

“One day we are going to do this freestyle in State House. Record this and keep it because one day we shall remind you,” he added, promising a celebratory concert at State House once he becomes president.
