    Police nabs ten women over holding illegal protests


    Police in Wandegeya have netted a group of ten women attached to the opposition National Unity platform (NUP) party for participating in unlawful assembly and inciting violence.

    They are Kyeone Stella, Nakiku Allen, Namatovu Milly, Nankya Fiona, Sselonga Rukia, Bulungi Jackie,Nantume Allen, Sylvia Ramuto, Apio Flavia and Nyanzi Elizabeth.

    Sources say the suspects were picked up from Kalerwe zone, Mulago III parish, Kawempe division in Kampala district while holding a procession. They carried placards written on; ‘stop torture’, ‘Free my husband’, ‘We want equality for Mrs Olivia Lutaya’


    Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed the arrests saying that the group marched from NUP offices at Kavule, Makerere.

    Onyango says the group first assembled at Zakaria Plaza and they matched up to Kalerwe market.
    The suspects are currently detained at Wandegeya Police station.
