Singer Brian Avie has shed light on one of the challenges faced by many local musicians, particularly those who are just starting out.

According to Brian Avie, the majority of these artists do not aim for global success, instead focusing solely on local audiences.

This narrow perspective, he says, limits their potential to expand internationally.

Having spent nearly four years in the industry as both a musician and songwriter, Brian Avie has had firsthand experience working with various artists.

He revealed that many musicians who seek his songwriting services often want songs tailored to the local market, shying away from international appeal.

According to him, the fear of failure has discouraged artists from aiming beyond Uganda’s borders.

Many artists would rather settle for the comfort of making money locally than taking the risk to go global,” Avie explained, noting that Uganda has seen several musicians attempt to go international but falter along the way.

However, he singled out Joshua Baraka, a Ugandan artist, as a shining example of someone attempting to break these boundaries.

Avie expressed his admiration for Baraka’s determination to push his music onto the global stage, encouraging other musicians to adopt a similar mindset.

Musicians in Uganda have one challenge. They majorly produce music for local consumption, yet the dream should be bigger than the local market. I am so proud of Joshua Baraka, he’s trying his best to ensure his music crosses borders,” Avie stated.
