Ykee Benda believes it was wrong for Azawi to publicly call out fellow artists in the fight against corruption ahead of the July #March2Parliament protests against corruption.
Artists including Ykee Benda, Allan Toniks, Bruno K, and Azawi used their social media handles to speak against corruption and the abuse of office in the protests that took place in July.
The Swangz Avenue star, however, went the extra mile of calling out other artists for not joining the fight.
She has since been criticised by a section of artists including Eddy Kenzo and Mathias Walukagga who note that what she did was wrong.
Ykee Benda has also added his voice to theirs. Despite having voiced similar sentiments against corruption, the Mpaka Record boss says it was wrong of Azawi to expose fellow artists publicly.
He notes that she could have spoken her mind independently without exposing other artists who did not feel like coming out on the matter.
If you have been noticing I have been speaking against corruption for a very long time. I was with her (Azawi) on that matter but I cannot call out grown-up artists to join the cause. I blame her for that.
She should have spoken her mind independently and not called out other people because only she knows how it (corruption) affects her and the other artists as well have their reasons for not coming out. For her to have sacrificed others to look like Jesus wasn’t nice.
