Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Cavendish University.

This triumph marks the end of a dramatic seven-year saga that began way back in August 2016, when Bobi first hit the books at the International University of East Africa (IUEA).

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party boss, also self proclaimed Ghetto President himself took to social media, overflowing with gratitude and a dash of nostalgia, to thank his family and friends who kept the fire burning through the ups and downs of his academic adventure.

And who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? At 42, Bobi has shown that dreams have no expiration date.

In a walk down memory lane, Bobi revealed who helped him get here.

He sang praises to his long term bonkmate and wife Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi calling her the real MVP behind his success. Bobi admits he might have thrown in the towel if not for her unwavering support and sometimes annoying (but necessary!) persistence.

“Only you know how many times I came close to giving up. Thank you for always keeping me encouraged and nourished. Now I know that with your encouragement, nothing is too hard to achieve. Thank you love,” he sweetly confessed.

He mentions singer and namesake Silver Kyagulanyi for the constant inspiration, as he was part of the law school plan from day one. Bobi says the dream was birthed by the duomore than 20 years ago while jamming at Makerere University’s MDD department.

Another inspiration in Bobi’s legal journey is a one Don Sheriff Nsubuga, his personal assistant, who he reveals that together they shared passion for justice. Bobi says Nsubuga, was by his side throughout the trials and tribulations of law school.

He further reveals that NUP Secretary General, David Rubongoya became his guide during a Constitutional Law lecture in 2016. It was Rubongoya that suggested a smart switch from IUEA to Cavendish University to dodge any future accreditation drama. Bobi wisely took his advice, crediting Rubongoya with some impressive foresight.

Finally, the NUP strongman praised his teachers and fellow students for their support throughout his studies.

He also addressed the hurdles he faced, revealing how they ultimately contributed to his success. In a candid message, on his socials, he acknowledged the lecturers who made it difficult for him to graduate last year.

Bobi was slated to graduate last year but was held back due to missed lectures in one course unit, necessitating another semester of attendance.

“Many of my classmates graduated last year and the years before. I was initially mad at you,(my teachers) but I was wrong, you were right, your insistence on high standards ensured he achieved a legitimate qualification,” he noted.

He also noted that finally when news of his impending graduation broke, detractors launched efforts to derail his progress. Allegedly, persons working for the regime petitioned the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), demanding an exhaustive review of his academic records.

This investigation included examining his application and admission forms, class attendance records, written exams, coursework, and tuition payment history. Only after a thorough investigation was Bobi cleared to graduate.

“I am sure the regime and those who are always eager to please it are very disappointed to see me in this gown today,” he alleged.
